The Holy Hermitage and Monastery of Camaldoli founded about 1012 by a Benedictine monk is situated in an ancient forest in the Tuscan Apennines. This is definitely a mystical place surrounded by spruce trees where you can experience the meditative monks’ spirit.
The building complex includes the medieval Hospice, called Foresteria, the church, the monastery and the old style pharmacy which used to be a laboratory where monks studied and worked with medicinal herbs in which still nowadays is possible to buy their products.
